Teacher's Activity Guide
The Teacher's Activity Guide is appropriate primarily for grades two through six by adapting the various activities to the student's level. Included in the Guide:
- Bulletin board activity focusing on traditions, old and new
- An extensive pre-reading vocabulary, pre-reading activities involving critical thinking, geography, social studies, maps, math and science
- A post-reading activity using cut and paste skills to arrange the story sequence of events and a post-reading "Ask Why" exercise involving reading comprehension and analysis
- A post-reading "Story Star" exercise requiring students to think about the setting, main character, problem and solution
- Post-reading writing exercise asking students to explain what they liked/disliked, what they would change the title to, etc.
- Finally, a list of Web-sites for Web-Quest on Athabascans, art, Alaska, North Pole, AK and The North Pole, etc.
